Time to Plant, Feed, and Seed
September 08, 2011

September is an excellent month to plant trees, shrubs, and perennials.  Plants experience cooler temperatures and ideal growing conditions that lead to healthy root growth in the surrounding soil.

It is time to feed your existing plants with a slow release fertilizer to optimize their health through the fall and prepare them for the winter ahead. Espoma Plant-Tone is an excellent choice for general feeding. Evergreens should be fed with Espoma Holly-Tone to give them a more acidic feeding, and deciduous trees and shrubs will benefit from Espoma Tree-Tone.

Don't forget about your lawn while you take care of your trees and shrubs.  September is the best month of the year for seeding and overseeding your lawn.  Seeding now will result in a thicker, fuller, and healthier lawn both this fall and next season.
