In 1942, James and Anna Paolini opened the first Waterloo Gardens at its present location in Devon, PA. Situated on two acres in the upscale Main Line area just outside of Philadelphia, the Paolini's grew the business over the next 30 years. In 1959, property in Exton, PA was purchased in order to grow nursery stock for the Devon store; it included a 44-acre cornfield and an adjoining six acres along Route 30. As the Exton area gentrified and became a more developed suburb, a garden center opened on the property in 1970. In 1972, the Paolinis retired and sold the business to their daughter, Linda LeBoutillier and her husband, Bo.
Today, Waterloo Gardens is still owned and operated by the LeBoutillier family.
Waterloo Gardens Today

Our two locations have become a Main Line gardening tradition, attracting garden lovers throughout the surrounding Philadelphia counties. In Spring 2007, Waterloo Gardens opened an Outdoor Furniture store in Wilmington, Delaware at the Concord Gallery shopping center.
